Due to the central location of Prattsville, and its existing art scene within the town; there is the potential to create an epicenter for the arts. If properly implemented this project could draw tourists and artists from across the state as well as commissions and residency’s. Currently, the town art center stands as a symbol of recovery for the town after the devastation caused by the flooding of hurricane Irene. The proposed building not only needs to emulate iconicsm but also needs to be resilient against the potential flooding of the region. Through proper design this project hopes to draw people to Prattsville and foster diversity within the community, while also giving space for artists to display their works with the lens of arts as a means for recovery.
