For this project students were asked to consider in greater depth the schemes we had developed in our previous project design of an office and café space on our school campus, with a focus towards meeting critical human comfort and wellness criteria. In addition to the programmatic elements we had already included, the client had requested a day care to be designed into our project on the first floor, to be used by students, faculty, and other members of the SU community with young children. we were asked to integrate the additional square footage required for the day care facility, as well as to develop clear strategies for the entire scheme that address three aspects of energy & environmental performance in the design: air, sound, and light.
